The Powerscourt Gallery presents 'Nude' Group Exhibition

Friday 23rd September - 7th October 2011

Exclusively for Culture Night 2011,

The Powersourt Gallery will be hosting a 'Nudes' & 'Life Drawing'
exhibition from a group of awe-inspiring artists including

Sahoko Blake, who's life drawing talent was recently featured on RTE's life drawing documentary NAKED, where olympic swimmer Melanie Nocher served as her live model for a session.
We are also delighted to include works from Academy Award Nominees
Jimmy T. Murakami ('The Magic Pear Tree') and Ross Stewart ('The Secret of Kells').
Amazing artists also featured in the Exhibit are John O'Flynn, Carole Shubotham, Ayelet Lalor,Kieran Crowley, John Kellet, Ken Donfield & Brian Gallagher.

Powerscourt Gallery will reveal the skill of figure drawing by setting
up an informal life drawing session on the night. This is a fantastic
opportunity for anyone to attempt drawing one of the most enduring
themes in the visual arts.

Lecture: (Sat 11:00am):

"Producing Animation Films" by Mr. Jimmy T. Murakami

Mr. Jimmy Murakami is one of the great European animators/directors as well as an artist. 'When the Wind Blows' and 'The Snowman' are among his most well-known works. The Lecture includes screenings of two short films 'The Breath' (Annecy Grand Prix 1967) and 'La Maison en Petits Cubes'( Annecy Grand Prix 2008, Academy Award 2009).

Screening Line-up:

Titles to be screened range from the early works of Hayao Miyazaki (creator of 'Ponyo', & 'Spirited Away', such as 'Panda!Go Panda' and 'Sherlock Hound', to introduction of the latest Japanese TV anime series. Feel the wind of JAPANIMATION in Dublin!

Powerscourt Gallery plays host to an exciting one‐act play Out Of Control.
Out Of Control by Maria Ann Hylton is a contemporary drama. It tells the story of Karen,
a bright 18‐year old who is planning to go to college and has her whole future ahead of
her. Unfortunately for the past six months Chloe, the school bully has been ‘messing with
her head’. So Karen decides to call in her cousin Sharon, a tough 22‐year‐old Dubliner
who has her own ‘method’ of dealing with this situation.
This is a short, sharp, sinister play, which delves into the issues that arise from bullying
amongst women.
Liam Moran & Maria Ann Hylton founded Morton Films & Media in 05. They have
produced the following & amongst Maria’s credits: she wrote & directed ‘Bittersweet’ a
short film which will be screened at the Underground Festival ‐ London, Short Day Film
Festival ‐ Galway & Yellow Fever Festival – Belfast. It has already had its premiere at the
Underground Film Festival VIII Dublin. She wrote & directed ‘The Couple’ a short film
which was shortlisted for the Jameson Best Irish Short Film Award in 05 ‐ Cork Film
Festival. Both were executive producers on the feature ‘8.5 Hours’, which has won
several awards and was screened at Cannes Film Festival Marche Du Film 09. It had a
cinema release in Ireland, and can be purchased on DVD at good reputable stores. She is
also a playwright and wrote ‘Conditioned’, which was chosen as part of the ‘Playground
Theatre’ readings for Axis in 07 and was staged at the International Bar & Axis Centre
09. ‘No Irish No Blacks No Dogs’ was staged at The New Theatre Dublin and has a result
of its success will return in 2012.
